Welcome to The Vincent Brothers Company Bulletin!

EFFECTIVE AUGUST 1, 2004:

The Vincent Brothers Company is pleased to announce that the new editor/publisher of The Vincent Brothers Review is Rafael Alvarez of Baltimore, Maryland. Alvarez, founder of “The Story Company” and recipient of a 2004 Maryland Arts Council creative writing individual artist grant, will post the new TVBR submission guidelines, address, deadlines, and upcoming themes on TVBR Web site December 15, 2004. Tune in to our website on that date for further information.

To get an idea for the new directions Alvarez will take TVBR, please visit his website.

Kimberly Willardson, founding editor of TVBR, will retain directorship of The Vincent Brothers Company, but has moved the company office to North Carolina, where she is pursuing new career opportunities. She and Alvarez will consult together on “transitional” Issue #24 before Alvarez takes over editorial reins for Issue #25. Associate Editor Roger Willardson is also pursuing new career opportunities in North Carolina. Poetry Editor Nick Obis is pursuing new career opportunities in Chicago and will also collaborate on the “transitional” Issue #24.

Associate Editor Michelle Whitley Turner is devoting more time to her own writing, as well as pursuing her career as a technical writer at Bowser-Morner. Art Editor Jud Yalkut has moved to Bellbrook, Ohio, and is pursuing his varied and interesting visual arts projects.

Please note that the Ohio, address of TVBR is no longer valid and mail sent to that address will be “Returned to Sender.” Again, the new address for submissions will be announced December 15, 2004. All manuscripts, submission guideline requests, and other queries are being returned in the order in which they were received.

The Vincent Brothers Company is still seeking funds for our collector’s book of ekphrastic poetry based on the holdings of the Dayton Arts Institute. Once funding has been received, those poets who already submitted material will be notified.

All sample copies, subscriptions, and recent copies must be purchased on our Web site via PayPal.

Hey!!!!!! Don’t go away. Stay tuned. TVBR is undergoing quite a few changes—all for the good.

May 2004: Our PayPal ordering has gotten easier to use! Some of those who tried to order back issues of TVBR or copies of Lose Them If You Can had trouble ordering because their sessions expired too quickly, so were happy to say weve solved that problem. TVBC tote bags and T-shirts will be available very soon, as will online ordering for David Garrisons Inside the Sound of Rain. Stay tuned!

January 2004: The Vincent Brothers Company is pleased to announce the release of Deanna Pickard’s haunting new collection of poetry, Lose Them If You Can, a nominee for the 2003 Ohioana Library Association Book Award in Poetry. The online poetry magazine Poetry Daily featured the poem Appearances from the book on Sunday, March 14, 2004. To learn more about the enchanting Lose Them If You Can and find out how order a copy using PayPal, click here.

PayPal is here! If you have a PayPal account, you can now order subscriptions to The Vincent Brothers Review, current and back issues of the magazine, and copies of Deanna Pickard’s Lose Them If You Can at TVBC’s Online Bookstore. You can also use it to make a donation to The Vincent Brothers Company and help us fund the magazine as well as exciting new projects like Lose Them If You Can and our forthcoming anthology of poetry inspired by works at the Dayton Art Institute.

Lend us a hand!

The Vincent Brothers Review will be on hiatus until July 2005, as the TVBR staff is temporarily preoccupied with other projects and relocating to new cities. We will NOT accept new submissions until January, so any submissions received before that date will be returned unopened. However, in the meantime, we WILL continue to process new subscriptions and back issue and book orders, of course. Please check back to this site January 2005, for further details, which will include an address change and staff updates. Thank you. We look forward to hearing from you next year!

The next Dead Poets Dance, Live Poets Read TVBR benefit party will be held in October 2005 somewhere on the East Coast. Like the first two benefit parties, the third one will feature live poets reading, great food, music (probably country-fiddle swing music this time around), dancing, a silent auction, raffles, and prizes for the best dead poets costume. And, of course, “Dead Poets Dance, Live Poets Read” T-shirts will be available for purchase. Stay tuned for details.
